Producing videos can take up a fair chunk of your day so where do you find the time to produce all your content? In today’s post, I’m going to share with you my secret to how I stay consistent with weekly videos. Watch the video below or scroll down for the old fashioned text version.
Preparation Is Key
If you are producing your videos properly then you need to write scripts, set up a recording space, set up your microphone, sort out your lighting and actually record your videos. So where will you find the time do all this every week to make sure you stay consistent with your content? What if you have a really busy week or you are off sick?
Today I want to talk to you about batch producing content. Why do all of those tasks every week when you can group 4 videos to record together at once? The idea is that by recording 4 videos at once you will cut down on the time it takes you to set up to film. So let’s say to set up your location, lights and audio and to film one video it takes about 40 minutes, 20 minutes setup time and 20 minutes filming time. If you batch produced 4 videos at once you would have 20 minutes setup time and 1 hour and 20 recording time. You will be saving the extra 20 minutes it takes to set up for each video. Across the month you would be saving about an hour.
Added Benefits
There are also a few added benefits. The first, if you bank a few sessions in the early weeks, maybe record 4 videos every 2 weeks for the first 6 weeks, you will have a buffer of 4 videos. This means that if for some reason you are struggling to find the time to record new content you will always have pre-recorded content available.
Another benefit is you can also premiere your videos on YouTube ahead of time, if you don’t know what a premiere video is I have a previous blog post on this. The basic idea is that it will let your viewers know what content you have coming up, giving them more reasons to subscribe.
That’s A Wrap
So to wrap up, don’t produce videos one at a time as you could be using your time more efficiently by batch producing content. By producing 4 or more videos at the same time not only will you improve your workflow but you will also have a bank of content in case you can’t record new videos for a few weeks.
