As a lot of you have now been forced to work from home you have probably had to make a few changes to the way you do business. One thing you may have overlooked is creating new video content.
I am someone who always looks for the positives in a situation so in this video I am going to show you how you can use the current lockdown to your advantage and experiment with different types of business videos. Watch the video below or scroll down for the old fashioned text version.
Let’s Get Personal
So you are stuck at home and you're not sure what video content you can produce for your business. You have probably heard that people buy from people not from businesses. Use this time to let your audience into your personal life. Introduce your family, show off your pet doing clever tricks or have a walk around your perfectly presented garden.
All these things let your audience connect with you on a personal and emotional level so that when they are ready to reach out they already feel like they know you.
Bonus tip! If you have staff, get them shooting videos as well. A few questions you can get them to answer are what's favourite movie? Favourite food? Favourite band? Why did you pick your current career path? What’s the main item on your bucket list you haven't ticked off yet?
Share Your Experience
Maybe you're finding the current situation hard to deal with or you may have had to restructure your entire business model. You are not alone. Why not share your experience and progress on a daily vlog? The video doesn’t have to be lengthy, just update everyone on how you are feeling, what you are achieving each day and offer support to anyone going through the same thing.
Everyone is struggling through the same situation at the moment so being open and honest will allow people to really connect with you and hopefully, you with them.
Book Club?
Not having as many distractions might mean that you have a bit of spare time each day to be productive. Why not pick up a new book, read a chapter each day and make a video on the key points you have learnt. Not only will you be helping other people but trying to teach key learnings from books helps you digest and retain that information yourself.
The book can be something to do with your industry, building your business or personal development. Look for books with great information that you can pass on to your audience.
Bonus tip! When sharing your video on social media don’t forget to tag the author, as well as anyone in your network who you think would find your tip valuable.
Share Your Zoom Meetings
Are you finding that you are always on Zoom at the moment? Zoom make it really easy to record your meetings with the click of a button so why not turn this into video content?
You can hold meetings with other businesses in your profession to offer support to each other. Speak to leaders in other fields to find out how they are trying to combat the situation or talk to your local networking group. Providing help and support and showing the real struggles businesses are going through will be valuable to a lot of people right now.
Create A Challenge
Do you remember the ice bucket challenge? How about the bottle cap challenge? As our personal worlds have shrunk for the moment why don’t you take advantage of challenges? You could get involved in other peoples challenges like Graham Bakers photography challenges or why not create one yourself that's related to your business?
For an accountant, you could ask your customers to share the weirdest thing you've heard someone try to claim as an expense.
For a landscape gardener, you could have a creepy-crawly challenge where you ask people to make bug hotels and take pictures every day showing the new insects making a home in your garden.
The longer this situation goes on the more people are going to be looking for different things to occupy their time.
Bonus tip! When creating a challenge don’t forget to create a hashtag for your viewers to submit their results. The great thing about hashtags nowadays is that you can find them on every platform.
That’s A Wrap
To make the most of this lockdown time, let people into your family life, share your progress and personal perspective, read books and give away key learnings, film your Zoom calls to support other people in your situation and create challenges to keep your audience entertained.
